First of all, I’m really proud of that title I just came up with. I like alliteration. Anyway, on to some of the thoughts brewing in my head right now . . . .
1. Have you been watching American Idol this season? Great stuff. I’ve found, however, that this season I don’t have anyone to really get behind though. Season 5 I was an avid Mandisa voter, and season 6 I was all about Melinda Doolittle. This season I really like Brooke White and David Archuleta, but not with the same passion as the prospective ‘idols’ I rooted for in previous seasons. The iTunes downloads of the performances are a nice feature this season though! I’ve already bought 3 or 4. And can I just say that Brooke’s cover of “Let It Be” a few weeks back was amazing!
2. Just got back from the senior trip with my church to Destin, FL last week! It was such a great time. And whoever says ‘Destin is too cold in March’ was wrong. It was perfectly fine weather. So there.
3. Our prom is April 19th! So in the mean time I’ve been busy squirreling away money from my hours fryin’ chicken at Chick-fil-A and increasing my risk of skin cancer at the tanning bed. Heck, I don’t care– you only have a senior prom once dangit! And I wanna look good for pictures. Although, I guess I could also accomplish that by working out, or just doing the occasional sit-up, but really- who has the time? Anyway, I’m pretty excited about prom. We’re having dinner at the Melting Pot– but I might just see if we can just skip to dessert. I’m salivating now just thinking about the chocolate fondue. It is amazing. Oo, but on a side note about the tanning bed- I recently saw one of my teacher’s walking in as I was walking out. Can you say ‘awkward’?
4. The Beech High School choral department is presenting it’s spring showcase, “Come Together”, on April 24th-26th. Basically it is a tribute to the LSD inspired tunes of the Beatles. Seriously, we’re singing like 5 Beatles songs. And it’s not even like the cool, normal ones, its the ones where its totally obvious they were trippin on something and the lyrics make absolutely no sense whatsoever. Our chorus teacher recently saw “Across the Universe” (a musical filled with all Beatles songs) and well– she really, really liked it.
5. Just saw the movie “21″ in the theater today. Not bad. There are a lot of parallels to the story of the prodigal son. It is definitely worth checking out. Another great movie I rented recently was “Amazing Grace.” Wow!
6. Six weeks till graduation! I’m excited now, but I know I’ll be beside myself the day it happens. You know, people kind of joke about the Class of 2008 at school, but there are so many amazing people that make up my graduating class. And while we never did better than last place in the homecoming floats, there is a unique spunk and spirit to this special group of students. I am so thankful for all of the wonderful people I have spent my high school career with and it is going to be really sad when we are all met with the reality that soon, many of us will rarely, if ever, see each other again. But at the same time, I couldn’t be more excited about charting my own new course at Tennessee Tech! Go Golden Eagles!
7. Oprah is kind of weirding me out lately. Have you seen the promotions for this new book in her book club, “A New Earth.” I would caution all of you to be leery of such new-age publications. I think sometimes we kind of lump that all together because its all “spiritual” but let me just say this- Know what you’re reading. And just because Oprah likes it doesn’t make it true or worthwhile.
8. Trace Adkins totally should’ve won “Celebrity Apprentice.” I mean, come on. Anyway, I’m still proud of our Nashville native. He represented country music well!
Well, that’s about all I got. So long for now, blog readers. Have A Great Week!
LOVE American Idol! But I gotta say, I’m for David Cook for Carly Smithson all the way. Haha
